I’ve sort of taken this month off to watch the World Cup. Well, it transpires that’s how things are turning out, anyway, so I’d like to respin it as a plan.
As a result I was plonked in front of the TV for most of Franco-Anglo love-in coverage on BBC News 24 today, which meant a lot of time ogling at the deliriously lovely Carla Bruni.
Surely the world’s most physically attractive older woman, Carla is proof that power attracts women, and proof that powerful men are still attracted to what they always fancied a bit of.
It’s also more evidence I should move to France.

Don’t know about the World Cup but I’m with you all the way on Carla. Though I wish Sarko weren’t so diminutive so she’s always running around in flats – such lovely legs…
Nicholas & Carla look really good as a couple too, in a Beauty & the Beast sort of way
There’s a lot to be said for France – more space, the food isn’t bad and the wine can be heavenly. DGF lived there a while and has fond memories. You’d have to learn the lingo, though. She found it took a couple of years to thin out the British accent well enough to be accepted. They can still tell the accent, more that it doesn’t hamper conversation by making people go hein? all the time.
@ermine – Too true about the flats, but amazing how her legs are turned out considering no heels. (Hard not to sound like a horse trainer when discussing these things!
)
I lived in Paris for a while (a girlfriend moved there) and I think I’d need a ’schtick’ to really survive it. If I could get that novel written, that’d do it perhaps.
You either need to be young and in love, or have something to hang your hat on to crack their close-knit social scene.
